All layered together in one bowl for an exceptionally satisfying meal. It’s simple yet special, perfect for any occasion. Enjoy the rich broth and generous toppings!
Main Ingredients- 1 pack of instant ramen
- 1 bowl of cooked rice
- 5 slices of pork belly (approx. 100-150g)
- A small bunch of green onion
- 1/4 onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the stir-fried pork (jeyuk bokkeum). Since this pork will be mixed with ramen, we don’t want it too salty or sweet; just aim for a vibrant color. Cut the pork belly into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm). Thinly slice the green onion and julienne the onion.
Step 2
Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a deep pan or wok over medium heat. Add the julienned onion and stir-fry until it becomes translucent and fragrant.
Step 3
Add the sliced pork belly and cook until the surface is lightly browned.
Step 4
Once the pork is partially cooked, add the gochugaru, soy sauce, minced garlic, and sugar. Stir-fry quickly until all ingredients are well combined. Be careful not to over-season at this stage. Finally, season with a pinch of salt to achieve the desired color. Your jeyuk bokkeum is ready!
Step 5
Now, let’s get the ramen ready. A great tip for chewy ramen noodles that don’t get mushy is to add everything – noodles, soup base, and dried vegetables – into cold water all at once and then bring it to a boil. (Refer to the ramen package for the correct water amount.)
Step 6
Around the time the jeyuk bokkeum is almost done, the ramen should start boiling. It’s best to cook the ramen about 30 seconds to 1 minute less than the package instructions for a perfect al dente texture.
Step 7
If you prefer your ramen without an egg, feel free to skip it. It’s delicious even without one when paired with the pork.
Step 8
Once the ramen is cooked, carefully drain the noodles and soup, and transfer them into a large bowl or deep dish.
Step 9
Serve about half a bowl of cooked rice separately. Both warm and leftover rice work well. Generously spoon the prepared jeyuk bokkeum over the rice.
Step 10
Now, ladle some of the ramen broth over the rice and pork mixture. The broth will mingle with the rice, adding extra deliciousness.
Step 11
Finally, garnish with some thinly sliced green onions for a beautiful finish. Your delicious Pork Ramen is complete!
Step 12
Stir-frying the pork belly right from the refrigerator, without thawing, resulted in a wonderful texture. The fat rendered out nicely, leaving the meat tender and flavorful. This jeyuk makes for an incredible topping on ramen and rice.
Step 13
Stacking the ramen, then the pork over the rice to create a ‘three-layer tower of deliciousness,’ and taking a big bite is pure bliss. It melts in your mouth! The combination of textures and flavors is truly spectacular.
Step 14
Picking out just the noodles and wrapping them with the pork is reminiscent of enjoying meat with cold noodles, but perhaps even more satisfying! This way of eating has its own unique charm.
