Essential Ingredients
- 1 package of instant ramen (any type works!)
- 50g of aged kimchi (well-fermented and tangy kimchi is best)
- 1/3 medium onion
- 1 strip of bacon
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before you begin cooking, please prepare all the necessary ingredients. Fresh ingredients are the first step to a delicious meal!
Step 2
Thinly slice the onion. Chop the aged kimchi into bite-sized pieces. Finely chop the bacon into small pieces. Having your ingredients prepped makes the cooking process much smoother.
Step 3
Bring a generous amount of water to a boil in a pot. Add the ramen noodles and cook for approximately 2 minutes, ensuring they don’t get too soggy. Once cooked, rinse the noodles briefly under cold water to remove excess starch, then drain them thoroughly in a colander. This step ensures the noodles will be perfectly chewy when stir-fried!
Step 4
Heat a little cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and chopped bacon, and stir-fry until the onion becomes translucent. Then, add the chopped kimchi and continue to stir-fry together. Once the kimchi is slightly cooked, add the brown sugar and soy sauce. Stir-fry well until the tangy and sweet flavors of the kimchi meld together. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning.
Step 5
Now, add the chewy, drained ramen noodles to the pan with the sautéed vegetables and kimchi. Gently loosen the noodles to mix them evenly with the other ingredients.
Step 6
Once the noodles are well combined with the ingredients, add the oyster sauce. Continue to stir-fry for about 1 minute, ensuring all the ingredients are coated evenly with the sauce. Oyster sauce will add a wonderful umami depth to your dish.
Step 7
Finally, sprinkle in some black pepper, drizzle with sesame oil for a nutty aroma, and finish with a scattering of sesame seeds. Your delicious kimchi fried noodles are now complete! Enjoy them hot for the best flavor.
