Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare all the ingredients for our dish.
Step 2
Rinse the peeled quail eggs several times under running water to ensure they are clean. Place them in a colander to drain.
Step 3
After rinsing, drain the quail eggs thoroughly in a colander. It’s crucial to remove excess water, as any remaining moisture can cause oil splattering during frying.
Step 4
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan. Add the drained quail eggs and pan-fry them until they are golden brown and slightly crispy. This step deepens their savory flavor.
Step 5
Once the quail eggs are nicely browned, it’s time to add the seasoning. Start by adding 1 Tbsp of sugar and 1 Tbsp of oligosaccharide. Stir gently to coat the quail eggs.
Step 6
Next, add 3 Tbsp of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes). This is the key ingredient for spiciness, so feel free to adjust it to your preference.
Step 7
Add 2 Tbsp of soy sauce. This will contribute a savory depth to the overall flavor.
Step 8
Now, add 1 Tbsp of gochujang (Korean chili paste), the star ingredient that brings the spicy and sweet balance.
Step 9
Stir everything together to ensure the seasoning coats the quail eggs evenly. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and clings to the eggs. Be careful not to burn it.
Step 10
Finally, just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil and generously sprinkle 2 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds for an aromatic finish.
Step 11
And there you have it! Your delicious Gochujang Quail Eggs are ready. They are absolutely delightful served over a bowl of hot rice.
Step 12
You know the best part is enjoying them warm right after they’re made, don’t you? Their flavor is truly appetite-stimulating. For a child-friendly version, you can substitute gochujang with ketchup for a milder taste. This versatile side dish is perfect for the whole family, so be sure to give it a try!
