Main Ingredients
  • 200g Pork Tenderloin
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/3 Carrot
  • 1/4 Broccoli
  • 2 Shiitake Mushrooms

Seasoning & Others
  • 2 packets Store-bought Sichuan Jjajang powder
  • 0.5 Tbsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Mirin (Rice Wine)
  • Canola Oil, as needed
  • 300ml Water (refer to Jjajang powder package)
  • 2 bowls Cooked Rice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the main ingredients. Dice the pork tenderloin into 1cm cubes. Finely mince the onion, carrot, and shiitake mushrooms (about 0.5cm pieces). Separate the broccoli into bite-sized florets. (Alternatively, you can julienne or cube the vegetables according to your preference.)

Step 2

Heat a generous amount of canola oil in a pan over high heat. Add the diced pork tenderloin and stir-fry until browned. Add the minced onion, carrot, and shiitake mushrooms, and continue to stir-fry. Once the vegetables begin to turn translucent, add the black pepper powder and mirin to eliminate any gamey odors from the pork and vegetables, stirring well.

Step 3

Once the vegetables and pork are sufficiently stir-fried, add the 2 packets of store-bought Sichuan Jjajang powder and mix thoroughly. Stir-fry to prevent clumping, then pour in the amount of water specified on the Jjajang powder package (usually around 300ml). Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Finally, add the prepared broccoli florets and simmer for another minute or two. Your delicious Sichuan Jjajang Rice is ready! Serve generously over hot rice and mix well before enjoying!
