Bean Sprout Salad Ingredients
  • 500g bean sprouts
  • 1 tsp salt (for blanching)
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp chopped green onion
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1½ tsp salt (for seasoning)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the bean sprouts thoroughly. Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil, then add the 500g of bean sprouts and 1 tsp of salt. After adding the bean sprouts, cover the pot and blanch for about 4 minutes. It’s important to keep the bean sprouts crunchy, as they can become mushy if overcooked. Immediately drain the blanched bean sprouts and rinse them under cold running water to cool them down and remove excess moisture. Transfer the drained bean sprouts to a bowl and add 1 tsp of minced garlic and 1 Tbsp of chopped green onion.

Step 2

Next, add 1 Tbsp of chili powder, 1½ tsp of salt, 1 tsp of sesame oil, and 1 tsp of toasted sesame seeds. Now, gently toss and mix everything with your hands until the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the bean sprouts. Be careful not to mix too vigorously, as this can mash the bean sprouts.

Step 3

Your delicious red bean sprout salad, colored with chili powder, is now complete! Chili powder primarily adds color but also contributes a mild spiciness. Using too much chili powder can make the bean sprouts dry and lose their crispiness, so it’s best to use just enough to achieve the desired color without compromising the texture. Enjoy your meal with this flavorful bean sprout salad!
