It’s an ideal snack or an elegant appetizer for your home gatherings, perfect with a cold beer.
Ingredients- 8 slices of baguette (about 6-8 inches long each)
- 1 pollack roe sac (about 50-70g)
- 1 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened (about 15g)
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of dried parsley flakes
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the butter. You can use butter that has been softened at room temperature, or for a creamier sauce, place 1 tablespoon of butter in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for about 20-30 seconds until fully melted. Be careful not to overheat it, as it might splatter.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the flavorful pollack roe sauce. In a bowl, combine the melted butter (or softened butter). Add 1 teaspoon of chili powder, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, and a pinch or two of black pepper. Then, add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise for creaminess. For the pollack roe, use the back of a knife to gently scrape the roe out of its sac, discarding the sac itself. Add only the roe to the bowl and mix everything thoroughly until well combined. You’ll have a delicious pollack roe and mayonnaise sauce.
Step 3
Slice the prepared baguette into 8 equal pieces (or your desired size). Generously spread the pollack roe and mayonnaise sauce you just made onto each baguette slice using a spoon or knife. Make sure to apply a good amount of sauce for the best flavor.
Step 4
Sprinkle a pinch of dried parsley flakes over the pollack roe mayonnaise-covered baguettes. This adds a lovely visual appeal and an extra layer of aromatic flavor.
Step 5
Finally, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Arrange the prepared baguettes on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Baking times may vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on them. They are best enjoyed warm right out of the oven!
