- 5 Tbsp Sugar
Spicy Perilla Oil Bibim-myeon Ingredients- 1 pack Instant ramen noodles (or somen noodles)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1 pack Instant ramen noodles (or somen noodles)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a clean bowl, measure out 10 tablespoons of cho-gochujang (Korean chili paste with vinegar).
Step 2
Add 10 tablespoons of perilla oil to the bowl. The nutty aroma of perilla oil will significantly enhance the sauce’s flavor profile.
Step 3
Stir in 5 tablespoons of sugar to balance the flavors. You can adjust the sweetness to your preference.
Step 4
Using a whisk or spoon, thoroughly combine the cho-gochujang, perilla oil, and sugar until well mixed. The base ratio for this versatile bibimjang is 1:1:0.5 (cho-gochujang: perilla oil: sugar), creating a delicious sauce! Once made, store the bibimjang in an airtight container in the refrigerator for long-lasting freshness. It’s fantastic for dipping meats or sundae. Now, I’ll show you how to make a quick and tasty bibim-myeon using this sauce.
Step 5
To prepare the bibim-myeon, cook the ramen noodles or somen according to package directions, but slightly undercook them. After cooking, rinse them thoroughly under cold water to remove excess starch and drain them completely. This will ensure a wonderfully chewy texture.
Step 6
Place the drained noodles in a bowl. Add a generous amount of the prepared spicy perilla oil bibimjang to your liking and sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish. Mix everything well with chopsticks until the noodles and sauce are evenly coated. You’ll have a simple yet incredibly flavorful spicy perilla oil bibim-myeon ready in no time! Remember to refrigerate any leftover bibimjang for other delicious uses.
