Cook rice and grill marinated fish all in one rice cooker! Introducing a super simple recipe to enjoy a wonderful meal even on busy days. The moist fish combined with the sweet and spicy gochujang sauce is incredibly addictive and pairs perfectly with rice.

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 span (approx. 6-8 inches) of fish fillet (your favorite kind)
  • A little chopped scallion
  • A little sesame seeds

Spicy & Sweet Marinade

  • 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

First, add 1 cup of rice to your rice cooker and start cooking one serving of rice. Prepare about a span’s worth of fish fillet (your preferred type) and let it thaw. (Thick white fish or salmon work well.)

While the rice is cooking, let’s make the delicious marinade for the fish. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp Gochujang, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce, and 1 Tbsp sesame oil. Mix thoroughly until well combined. This is the golden ratio of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors.

Generously coat both sides of the thawed fish fillet with the prepared gochujang marinade. It’s important to spread the marinade evenly to ensure the flavors penetrate well.

When the rice is almost done, gently push the rice to one side of the rice cooker pot. Carefully place the marinated fish fillet in the empty space. If there’s any remaining marinade, pour it over the fish. Use your rice cooker’s ‘reheat’ or ‘cook’ function to cook for an additional 9 minutes. (If you don’t have a ‘reheat’ option, simply press the ‘cook’ button again.)

Once the fish is deliciously cooked, carefully remove it from the rice cooker and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Serve it alongside the rice, and sprinkle with chopped scallions and a pinch of sesame seeds for a more appealing presentation.
