Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the main ingredients for your tteokbokki. Rinse the rice cakes in cold water to make them soft and pliable. Cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces and slice the green onions into large sections.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the key to delicious tteokbokki: the sauce! In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp gochugaru, 1 Tbsp sugar, 2 Tbsp corn syrup, 0.5 Tbsp black pepper, and 0.5 Tbsp dashida. Mix well until there are no lumps. You can adjust the amount of sugar and corn syrup to your preference.
Step 3
In a pot, add 2 cups of water. Then, add the prepared rice cakes, cut fish cakes, green onions, and the sauce you just made. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally to prevent the rice cakes from sticking together.
Step 4
Once the sauce thickens and the rice cakes and fish cakes have absorbed the flavors, your delicious tteokbokki is ready! Enjoy it hot for the best taste.
