Spicy and Sweet Stir-fried Pork with Gochujang
Hearty Minced Pork Stir-fry with Gochujang – A Family Favorite
I went to the butcher to buy about half a pound of minced pork, but somehow ended up with one and a half pounds! After dividing it into three portions, I pondered what to make, and decided on a minced pork and gochujang stir-fry, which my child absolutely loves. My child once complained at breakfast, saying ‘I’m a goat! Why is it all vegetables?’ and then claimed to be tired of meat. But then, they lamented that without meat on the table, there was nothing to eat! So, I made this gochujang stir-fry packed with plenty of pork. It’s the perfect side dish that makes rice disappear!
Main Ingredients- Minced pork 370g
- 1 onion
- A little cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel and wash the onion, then mince it finely. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium-low heat and stir-fry the minced onion. Using a non-stick pan is crucial to prevent burning or sticking. Cook the onion until it becomes translucent and tender.
Step 2
Once the onion is softened, add the minced pork. If you ask the butcher for leaner cuts, you’ll get a more tender texture.
Step 3
While stir-frying the pork, break up any clumps and cook until the meat is no longer pink. Tip: You can push the onions to one side of the pan, cook the pork first until mostly done, and then mix them together for better flavor distribution.
Step 4
When the pork is fully cooked, add 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, and 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide. It’s a good idea to adjust the amount of soy sauce based on the saltiness and sweetness of your gochujang. It’s best to start with a little less and add more to taste.
Step 5
Now, add a generous 3 heaped tablespoons of gochujang. You might wonder if you need more gochujang with this much meat, but today we’re focusing on enjoying the pork flavor! Stir-fry everything together for 2-3 minutes until the meat and seasoning are well combined. Your delicious stir-fried pork with gochujang is now ready!
