Main Ingredients
  • 2 sheets of square fish cake (approx. 180g)
  • 30g green onion (approx. 1/3 stalk)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the fish cakes. Lay the square fish cakes flat horizontally and then slice them into thin strips, about 3mm thick. This shape allows the sauce to coat them evenly, making them more flavorful.

Step 2

Wash the green onions and pat them dry. Finely chop them into small pieces. The aroma of the green onions will add a deep flavor to the fish cakes.

Step 3

Heat a pan over medium heat on the stove. Add the chopped green onions and 2 tablespoons of cooking oil. Stir-fry until the green onions become fragrant and release a savory aroma, creating an aromatic green onion oil. This step is the secret to elevating the taste of your fish cake dish.

Step 4

Once the aromatic green onion oil is ready, add the prepared fish cakes to the pan and stir-fry them together.

Step 5

Now it’s time to add the seasonings that will give the fish cakes their delicious flavor. Add 1.5 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1.5 tablespoons of oligodang, and 0.8 tablespoons of gochugaru to the pan.

Step 6

Stir gently with a spatula to coat the fish cakes evenly with the sauce. Make sure the fish cakes are beautifully colored red by the chili powder.

Step 7

Taste as you cook and adjust the seasoning. If it tastes too bland, add a little more soy sauce. If it’s not sweet enough, add a bit more oligodang. Stir well after adjusting and continue to cook.

Step 8

When the fish cakes are cooked to your liking, add 0.5 tablespoons of sesame oil for a nutty finish and stir briefly. Adding sesame oil at the end preserves its fragrant aroma.

Step 9

Just before turning off the heat, sprinkle a generous amount of sesame seeds over the top. Your delicious spicy and sweet stir-fried fish cakes are now complete! Enjoy them with a warm bowl of rice.
