Ingredients
  • 200g Peppers (e.g., Korean chili peppers or sweet bell peppers, adjust spiciness to your preference)
  • 100g Medium-sized dried anchovies (guts removed)
  • 2 rounds Cooking oil (approx. 2 Tbsp)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 stalk White part of green onion
  • 2 Tbsp Mirin (rice wine)
  • 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thinly slice the green onion diagonally to add a fragrant aroma, and mince the garlic. Preparing the ingredients in advance like this will make the cooking process much smoother.

Step 2

Wash the peppers thoroughly, remove the stems, and pat them completely dry. It’s important to thoroughly dry them with a paper towel, as remaining moisture can cause oil to splatter during cooking.

Step 3

Place the prepared anchovies in a heated pan and stir-fry over high heat for about 10 seconds to remove any fishy odor. Then, add about 2 rounds of cooking oil and stir-fry with the anchovies for another 10 seconds to enhance their nutty flavor.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low, then add 2 tablespoons of Mirin to eliminate any remaining fishy smell from the anchovies. Next, add the prepared peppers, the white part of the green onion, minced garlic, and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce.

Step 5

Once all ingredients are in the pan, switch the heat to medium and stir-fry for about 3 minutes, ensuring everything is evenly coated. The flavors will meld beautifully as they cook.

Step 6

After 3 minutes, add 2 tablespoons of Oligodang for sweetness, and finally sprinkle with sesame seeds for a nutty finish. Stir-fry for another minute, and you’ll see the delicious stir-fried anchovies with peppers taking shape!

Step 7

Ta-da! Your spicy, sweet, and savory stir-fried anchovies with peppers are complete. They’re absolutely delicious served over a bowl of hot rice! Enjoy your meal!
