Main Ingredients
  • 500g Pork Shoulder/Front Leg
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 2 heads Bok Choy

Spicy & Sweet Marinade
  • 2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Korean Plum Extract (Maesilcheong)
  • 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1/3 tsp Ginger Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Cooking Wine (Mirin or Cheongju)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Cut the pork shoulder into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, combine the pork with 2 Tbsp Gochujang, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp plum extract, 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic, 1/3 tsp ginger powder, and 1 Tbsp cooking wine. Mix well to ensure the marinade coats the pork evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes for deeper flavor. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add the marinated pork. Stir-fry, making sure to separate the pieces so they don’t stick together.

Step 2

When the pork is about 70% cooked, add the thinly sliced onion to the pan. Stir-fry together until the onions become translucent and mingle with the pork. Imagine the satisfying ‘sizzle’ sound as everything cooks together – it adds to the enjoyment!

Step 3

Finally, add the washed and chopped bok choy to the pan. Stir-fry briefly until it’s just tender-crisp. Bok choy cooks quickly, so avoid overcooking to maintain its fresh, crunchy texture. Once everything is well combined and heated through, your delicious Jeyuk-Bulgogi is ready! Serve hot over a bowl of steamed rice for a truly delightful meal.
