  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili powder)
  • 1.5 to 2 cups Water (approx. 270ml to 360ml)
  • 1 Tbsp Dashida (beef bouillon powder, commercial brand)
  • 1 Tbsp Cooking Oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare about 10 fresh potatoes. Potatoes of varying sizes are perfectly fine for this recipe.

Step 1

Step 2

Get your commercial beef Dashida ready. This ingredient will add a savory depth to your stir-fry.

Step 2

Step 3

Prepare the gochugaru, which will give the dish its characteristic spicy flavor and vibrant color.

Step 3

Step 4

Peel the potatoes thoroughly and wash them under running water. Slice larger potatoes into half-moons and smaller potatoes into rounds. This ensures the seasoning penetrates evenly. Aim for slices about 0.7cm thick.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil.

Step 5

Step 6

Pour in 1.5 cups (approximately 270ml) of water. Maintain medium-low heat to prevent the ingredients from burning.

Step 6

Step 7

Add all the sliced potatoes to the frying pan.

Step 7

Step 8

Add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce to season the potatoes.

Step 8

Step 9

Add 2 tablespoons of gochugaru and 1 tablespoon of Dashida. Stir to combine the seasonings with the potatoes.

Step 9

Step 10

Reduce the heat to low and let the potatoes simmer and stir-fry for about 20 minutes. It’s crucial to stir occasionally to prevent sticking and burning.

Step 10

Step 11

Gently stir the potatoes with a ladle or spatula once or twice to ensure the gochugaru-seasoned broth is evenly distributed. If the sauce becomes too thick, add another 1/2 cup (approximately 90ml) of water to keep it nicely saucy.

Step 11

Step 12

Your delicious Gochugaru Potato Stir-fry is ready! Once the pan has cooled slightly, use a ladle to transfer the stir-fry into a storage container. The gochugaru seasoning will have beautifully permeated the potatoes, making this dish incredibly tasty!
