How to Make a Simple and Delicious Gim Salad Side Dish
Introducing a wonderfully easy and delicious Gim salad recipe! Gim is said to pair best with vinegar. This Gim salad is made with a perfect balance of tangy and sweet flavors.
Ingredients- Gim (Seaweed) 200g
- Radish 120g
- Carrot 1 piece
- Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
- Plum extract 2 Tbsp
- Corn syrup 4 Tbsp
- Vinegar 4 Tbsp
- Salt 0.5 Tbsp
- Sesame seeds 1 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the Gim (seaweed), radish, and carrot for the salad.
Step 2
Julienne the radish and carrot thinly. Sprinkle with 0.5 Tbsp of salt and let them lightly pickle for about 10 minutes. This process helps draw out moisture, making the vegetables crispier.
Step 3
Wash the Gim thoroughly by rubbing it vigorously with a pinch of coarse sea salt. Rinse it several times under running water to remove any grit or impurities. Drain well in a colander to remove excess water, ensuring the seasoning adheres properly.
Step 4
In a small saucepan, combine the minced garlic, plum extract, corn syrup, and vinegar. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step 5
Once the sauce begins to bubble around the edges,
Step 6
Pour the hot, simmering sauce over the drained and cut Gim. Toss gently to coat the seaweed evenly. Pouring the hot sauce helps to cook off any raw taste of the seaweed and enhances its flavor.
Step 7
Add the lightly pickled and squeezed radish and carrot juliennes. Gently mix and toss with your hands until all ingredients are well combined with the sauce. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the Gim mushy.
Step 8
Finish by sprinkling 1 Tbsp of sesame seeds over the salad. Give it one final light toss. Your delicious Gim salad is ready to be served!
