Ingredients

  • 300g Jalapeños (or substitute with green/red bell peppers)
  • 1 bottle Pickle Brine (approx. 500ml)
  • 1 bottle Water (approx. 500ml)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare 300g of fresh jalapeños (or bell peppers). Wash them thoroughly under running water. For an extra clean, sprinkle a little baking soda and gently rub to remove any pesticides or residue. Rinse and pat them completely dry.

Step 1

Step 2

Cut the prepared jalapeños (or bell peppers) into bite-sized pieces, about 1-1.5 cm thick. You can remove the seeds if you prefer less heat, or leave them in for a spicier kick. If you enjoy more spice, keeping the seeds is recommended.

Step 2

Step 3

Get a clean glass jar ready to hold your pickles. A jar with a wide opening makes it easier to add and remove ingredients. It’s best to use heat-resistant glass for safety when pouring hot liquids. Sterilize the jar by boiling it or wash it thoroughly and ensure it’s completely dry.

Step 3

Step 4

The secret to delicious pickles! Prepare 1 bottle (approx. 500ml) of store-bought pickle brine and 1 bottle (approx. 500ml) of fresh water. Using a 1:1 ratio of brine to water helps balance the flavor, preventing it from being too sour or salty, while still achieving that classic pickle taste.

Step 4

Step 5

Tightly pack the sterilized glass jar with the chopped jalapeños (or bell peppers). In a separate container, mix the pickle brine and water in equal parts to create the pickling liquid. (e.g., 500ml pickle brine + 500ml water = 1L total).

Step 5

Step 6

Pour the prepared pickling liquid over the jalapeños (or bell peppers) in the jar, ensuring they are fully submerged. This is crucial for proper pickling. Securely close the lid of the jar.

Step 6

Step 7

No need to sterilize the jar with boiling water! Once assembled, let the bell pepper pickles cool down at room temperature for about 1-2 hours, then transfer them to the refrigerator to chill and mature. They’ll be most delicious after about a day. This pickle brine is versatile and can be used to make pickles with cucumbers, radishes, onions, and more!
