Ingredients- 300g Ground Beef
- 300g Ground Pork
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1/2 Onion
- 1 Cheongyang Pepper
- 1 Green Onion
- Soy Sauce
- Sugar
- Honey
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cooking Wine
- 1 Egg
- Sesame Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Finely chop the onion and the chili pepper. These will add flavor and a hint of spice to your galbi.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Break up any clumps to ensure even mixing later.
Step 3
Add the following ingredients to the meat mixture: – Chopped onion – Chopped Cheongyang pepper – 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic – 5 Tbsp soy sauce – 1 Tbsp cooking wine – 2 Tbsp sugar – 1 Tbsp honey – A pinch of salt – A dash of pepper – 1 egg – 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Step 4
Once all the ingredients are added, it’s time to mix! Knead the mixture thoroughly until it becomes sticky and cohesive. This elasticity is key for a good galbi texture and shape.
Step 5
Now, let’s shape the galbi. Take about a handful of the meat mixture and toss it back and forth between your hands, like throwing a baseball. This technique helps to create a tender and well-formed galbi patty.
Step 6
Shape the meat into uniform patties. Aim for a size that’s easy to handle and cook evenly.
Step 7
To achieve the best flavor, we’ll make green onion oil! Finely chop the green onion. Heat a pan over medium-low heat with cooking oil, and sauté the green onion until it becomes fragrant and slightly browned. This infuses the oil with a delicious aroma.
Step 8
Sear the shaped galbi patties in the fragrant green onion oil. Cook over medium-low heat, flipping occasionally, until both sides are nicely browned and the patties are cooked through. Adjust the heat to prevent burning.
Step 9
Once the galbi is fully cooked, carefully drain off any excess oil from the pan. This step ensures a less greasy and more enjoyable final dish.
Step 10
Arrange the cooked Cheongyang Galbi on a plate, and your delicious meal is ready to be enjoyed! It pairs wonderfully with a side of steamed rice. Enjoy!
