  • 1 handful of Green Onion (chopped)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cheongyang Pepper (chopped, optional)
  • Pinch of Black Pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Let’s prepare a warm and delicious Sundubu Jjigae to enrich your dinner table! With this recipe, anyone can successfully make a fantastic bowl of Sundubu Jjigae.

Step 1

Step 2

First, heat 3 tablespoons of sesame oil in a pot. Add the finely minced 1/4 onion and the roughly chopped green onion. Sauté over low heat to release their aromas. It’s important to sauté them thoroughly until the onions become translucent and the sweetness of the green onions is extracted.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the onion and green onion are softened, add 2 tablespoons of gochugaru and stir-fry for about 1 minute over low heat. This process removes any raw taste from the chili flakes and develops a deep, rich flavor from the chili oil. Be careful not to burn it!

Step 3

Step 4

Pour in 300ml of the prepared broth carefully over the sautéed onion, green onion, and chili flakes. Next, add 1 teaspoon of sugar and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Stir well, then bring to a boil over high heat. Once the broth is boiling vigorously, gently add the entire packet of sundubu, breaking it into large chunks with a spoon.

Step 4

Step 5

After adding the sundubu and letting it simmer for a moment, taste the broth and adjust the seasoning. Start with 1/2 teaspoon of salt. If it’s not salty enough, gradually add more salt to your preference. Once the seasoning is right, add the chopped Cheongyang pepper (optional), 2 eggs, and a pinch of black pepper. Simmer just until the eggs are cooked through. Avoid overcooking, as the eggs can break apart.

Step 5

Step 6

There you have it! Your spicy and silky Sundubu Jjigae is ready. Enjoy it with a hot bowl of rice. You can experience a depth of flavor comparable to restaurant-quality stews right in your own home.
