This Sundubu Jjigae recipe utilizes a pre-made versatile seasoning paste, allowing you to quickly whip up a delicious stew with just silken tofu, green onions, and onions. It’s a wonderfully flavorful and satisfying stew that anyone can easily make.
Stew Ingredients- 1 package Silken Tofu (about 300-350g)
- 1/2 Onion (medium-sized)
- 1/2 stalk Green Onion (mainly the white part)
- 200g Pork Stew Seasoning Paste (pre-made or homemade)
- 1L Water (or broth)
- 1 Egg (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the pre-made ‘Pork Stew Seasoning Paste’. (Refer to recipe ID @6987088)
Step 2
Pour 1L of water into a pot with high sides. Add 200g of the pork stew seasoning paste and bring it to a boil over high heat.
Step 3
Thinly slice the onion and chop the green onion into bite-sized pieces. Open the package of silken tofu.
Step 4
Once the seasoned water is rapidly boiling, carefully add the silken tofu, keeping it in large chunks. Then, add the sliced onions and chopped green onions. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Step 5
Since a versatile seasoning paste is used, additional seasoning might not be necessary. However, adjust the taste to your preference. If it’s too bland, add a little more seasoning paste or season with soy sauce or salt. For extra spiciness, a pinch of red pepper flakes can be added.
Step 6
Ladle the hot stew into a serving bowl. Just before eating, crack one egg into the stew. The egg can be cooked to your liking, whether you prefer it fully cooked or slightly runny.
