Spicy and Hearty Soon Tofu Fire Noodle Soup
How to Make Soon Tofu Fire Noodles Using Buldak Bokkeummyeon
Remember the trend of adding soon tofu (silken tofu) to Yeol Ramen? Inspired by that delicious combination, I decided to create an even more exciting version using the popular Buldak Bokkeummyeon (Fire Noodles), which is known for its intense spiciness. This recipe takes the beloved spicy instant noodles and elevates them with the creamy, delicate texture of soon tofu. The rich broth, infused with the savory essence of beef bone broth and the fiery kick of Buldak sauce, perfectly coats the soft tofu and chewy noodles. It’s a comforting yet exhilarating dish that’s surprisingly easy to make. Get ready for a flavor explosion that balances heat and tenderness in every spoonful!
Ingredients
- Buldak Bokkeummyeon (or Fire Noodles) 2 packs
- Store-bought Beef Bone Broth (Sagol Gomtang) 500g
- Soon Tofu (Silken Tofu) 1 block (350g)
- Egg 1
- Water 120ml (for boiling noodles)
- Sesame Seeds, a pinch (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a deep pot. Add the store-bought beef bone broth (500g), the water for boiling the noodles (120ml), and the liquid sauce packet from the Buldak Bokkeummyeon. This step begins to build the rich and spicy foundation of the broth.
Step 2
Place the pot with the broth ingredients over high heat and bring it to a boil. Once the broth is bubbling vigorously, add the noodles from both packs of Buldak Bokkeummyeon and the powder soup packet. Stir well to prevent the noodles from sticking together, then reduce the heat to medium. Cook for approximately 2 to 3 minutes, or until the noodles reach your desired tenderness. You can adjust the cooking time based on your preference.
Step 3
As the noodles are cooking, you’ll notice a red foam forming on the surface of the broth. To ensure a cleaner and more refined taste, carefully skim off this foam with a spoon. Removing the foam contributes to a smoother and deeper flavor profile of the soup.
Step 4
Once you’ve removed the foam, it’s time to add the soon tofu. Gently break the block of soon tofu into bite-sized pieces using chopsticks or a spoon – you can either leave them as larger chunks or slightly break them apart. Carefully add the tofu to the pot. Continue to simmer for about 1 minute, just enough to heat the tofu through without it falling apart. Finally, you can either whisk the egg and pour it in, or crack it directly into the soup and let it cook. Turn off the heat, garnish with a pinch of sesame seeds if desired, and enjoy your delicious Soon Tofu Fire Noodles!
