- 300g Frozen Dumplings (choose your favorite type)
- 1 Onion (medium-sized)
- 1/2 stalk Green Onion
- 2 Korean Chili Peppers (adjust to your spice preference)
Seasoning & Broth- 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce (regular or soup soy sauce)
- Salt to taste
- 1.5L Anchovy or Kelp Broth (or water)
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce (regular or soup soy sauce)
- Salt to taste
- 1.5L Anchovy or Kelp Broth (or water)
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the ingredients. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes (about 2cm thick). Peel the potatoes and cut them into large cubes (about 2cm). Slice the onion thickly, and diagonally slice the green onion and Korean chili peppers. Leave the frozen dumplings as they are.
Step 2
Pour 1.5 liters of broth (or water) into a pot. Add the cubed potatoes. While the potatoes are cooking, sprinkle a pinch of black pepper to enhance the flavor and remove any unwanted odors.
Step 3
Once the broth comes to a boil, gently add the cubed tofu. Be careful not to break the tofu as you place it in the pot.
Step 4
While the potatoes and tofu are cooking, prepare the seasoning mixture. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of gochugaru, 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic, and 3 tablespoons of soy sauce. Mix well.
Step 5
When the potatoes and tofu are almost tender (check by inserting a chopstick; it should go in easily), stir in the prepared seasoning mixture into the pot. Taste the broth and adjust with salt if needed. The tofu is cooked when it floats to the surface.
Step 6
Finally, add the frozen dumplings, sliced green onions, onions, and Korean chili peppers to the pot, arranging them attractively. Since dumplings cook quickly, simmer just until they are heated through and the flavors have melded. (Feel free to add mushrooms or other vegetables if you like.)
Step 7
Continue to simmer until all ingredients are well combined and the hot pot is bubbling. Your delicious and hearty Mandu Jeongol is ready to be enjoyed!
