  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Today’s dish is ‘Fried Rice Using Leftover Gamjatang’! Let’s make a delicious meal out of those leftovers from last night or lunch, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Step 2

Carefully pick out the tender perilla leaves (or cabbage) and the meat still attached to the bones from your leftover Gamjatang. Discard the bones. Place all the salvaged meat and vegetables into a wide frying pan or wok. Including a little bit of the Gamjatang broth will make the fried rice moister and more flavorful.

Step 3

Rinse the kimchi, pat it dry, and chop it into bite-sized pieces. If using cubed kimchi (kakdugi), chop that as well. Add the prepared kimchi (or kakdugi) to the Gamjatang ingredients in the pan. Sprinkle a pinch of black pepper for added flavor. Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma.

Step 4

Now it’s time to stir-fry everything together. Using a spatula or cooking spoon, vigorously ‘stir-fry’ all the ingredients in the pan, mixing them well. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, allowing the kimchi to soften and the Gamjatang components and seasonings to meld together. Once the ingredients are sufficiently stir-fried, prepare for the next step.

Step 5

The star of fried rice: it’s time to add the rice! Add a generous portion of warm cooked rice to the pan. Then, crack 2 fresh eggs directly over the rice with a ‘crack!’. Continue to ‘stir-fry’ vigorously, mixing the eggs into the rice and other ingredients. Each grain of rice will be coated with the savory flavors, and the eggs will add a wonderfully creamy texture as they cook.

Step 6

We’re almost done! For the final touch, add the seaweed flakes for extra flavor and texture. Adjust the amount of seaweed flakes according to your preference. Use more if you love a rich, nutty taste, or less if you prefer a more delicate flavor.

Step 7

With the seaweed flakes added, give it a final ‘swirl~~’ of stir-frying for another minute or so, and your delicious Gamjatang fried rice is complete! Enjoy it hot for a perfect harmony of deep Gamjatang flavor, the nuttiness of fried rice, and the satisfying crunch of kimchi. A hearty and delicious meal awaits! ^^
