Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 bag of bean sprouts (approx. 150-200g)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 2 pinches of salt (approx. 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare about half a bag of bean sprouts. Rinse them thoroughly under running water. Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil, then add the bean sprouts and blanch for exactly 30 seconds. Boiling them for too long will make them mushy and lose their crunch, so be sure to time it carefully.

Step 1

Step 2

Immediately drain the blanched bean sprouts in a colander and briefly rinse them under cold running water to cool them down. This step helps preserve their crisp texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Place the drained bean sprouts in a mixing bowl. Add two pinches of salt to start seasoning. You can adjust the amount of salt based on the quantity of bean sprouts or your personal preference.

Step 3

Step 4

Next, add 1 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) for a touch of spiciness. You can use fine or coarse gochugaru, and adjust the amount based on the desired color and heat level.

Step 4

Step 5

Add a pinch of black pepper and finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Now, gently toss the bean sprouts to evenly distribute the seasonings. Be careful not to overmix or squeeze them too hard, as this can damage their texture. A gentle tossing motion is key to maintaining their crunch.

Step 5

Step 6

Once all the seasonings are well combined and the bean sprouts are still delightfully crunchy, your delicious seasoned bean sprouts are ready! Serve and enjoy with a bowl of rice.
