All you need is 2 cans of saury! Say goodbye to dinner dilemmas; this quick and easy recipe is a lifesaver. Adding fragrant green onions, pungent garlic and ginger, and fiery red and chili peppers creates a fantastic harmony. Worried about fishy odors? No need! A splash of cooking wine or soju will ensure a perfectly clean taste.
Ingredients- 2 cans Saury (including the sauce)
- 6 mini cabbages, cut into large pieces
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp chopped green onions
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- 1 Tbsp cooking wine (Mirin or Soju)
- 1 red chili pepper, cut into large cubes
- 2 Tbsp chopped chili peppers (e.g., Cheongyang peppers for heat)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Pour both cans of saury, along with all their sauce, into a pot. The canned sauce itself is an excellent base, so you won’t need to prepare any extra broth or seasoning. Isn’t that incredibly convenient?
Step 2
Now it’s time to add the vegetables that will bring flavor and spiciness to the braise. Add the mini cabbages for a refreshing sweetness, chopped green onions for aroma, and large-cut red chili pepper and finely chopped chili peppers for a fiery kick.
Step 3
Add the magical ingredients to perfectly eliminate any fishy odor: plenty of minced garlic and minced ginger. Next, add 1 tablespoon of cooking wine (or soju) for odor control and a little water. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low and let it simmer until the sauce thickens. This quick braise will be ready in no time! If you desire even more heat, feel free to add 1-2 tablespoons of red chili powder.
Step 4
The rich broth from the saury combined with the tender fish creates a delicious braised saury, perfect as a side dish for your rice! Using canned saury allows you to enjoy it without any fishy taste, and the added soju, minced garlic, and ginger expertly remove any lingering odors, making it even more delectable. Serve it over warm rice and savor this delightful meal!
