Cooking Instructions
Step 1
This Cookdo Qing Chao Rou Si (stir-fried peppers and pork) sauce is designed for 3-4 servings and takes only 15 minutes to cook. It’s incredibly simple, isn’t it?
Step 2
The recipe states 2 green bell peppers are about 190g. If adding bamboo shoots, use the same amount as the green peppers. I prepared three colorful bell peppers: red, yellow, and orange.
Step 3
The recipe calls for about 190g of pork. The package I bought at the supermarket was 198g. Marinate the stir-fry pork with cooking wine, salt, and pepper. Then, coat it with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. This step ensures the pork stays tender and absorbs the sauce beautifully.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium heat, add cooking oil, and stir-fry the green bell peppers and colorful bell peppers briefly. You want them to be slightly tender but still retain a pleasant crunch.
Step 5
Once stir-fried, remove the peppers and bell peppers to a separate dish. This prevents them from becoming overcooked when combined with the pork later.
Step 6
Using the same pan, or adding a little more oil if needed, add the cornstarch-coated pork. Cook over low heat, breaking up any clumps with chopsticks, until the pork is just cooked through and opaque. Avoid overcooking at this stage.
Step 7
Turn the heat down to low. Add the reserved stir-fried peppers and bell peppers back into the pan with the pork. Pour in the entire packet of Cookdo Qing Chao Rou Si sauce. Don’t be shy with the sauce; it’s key to the flavor!
Step 8
Stir-fry everything together over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until the sauce is well combined and glossy. Since the pork is already partially cooked, it doesn’t need long. Your delicious Qing Chao Rou Si (stir-fried peppers and pork) is now complete! Serve hot with rice or steamed buns (flower buns) for a wonderful meal.
