Special Ramen with Aromatic Green Onions and Savory Tuna
Easy Recipe for a Hearty Green Onion and Tuna Ramen
Tired of plain instant noodles? Elevate your ramen with the fresh aroma of green onions and the rich, savory flavor of tuna. This recipe makes your noodles heartier and more delicious, perfect for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients- 2 servings of instant ramen
- 1 bunch green onions (approx. 100g)
- 1/2 can tuna (approx. 100g, including oil)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the green onions, which will add a key aromatic element to your ramen. Wash them thoroughly and thinly slice both the white and green parts diagonally, about 0.5cm thick. Using a generous amount of green onions will significantly enhance the refreshing and slightly spicy flavor of your ramen.
Step 2
Open the can of tuna and transfer the contents to a bowl. Crucially, do not discard the oil from the tuna can! This oil is packed with flavor and will add a deep, savory, and nutty richness to your ramen. Pour the tuna oil into a pan.
Step 3
Turn the heat to medium-low. Add all the sliced green onions to the tuna oil in the pan. Stir gently and sauté the onions. It’s important to cook the onions until they are lightly golden and release their sweet aroma, creating ‘scallion oil’. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes.
Step 4
Once the delicious aroma of the scallion oil starts to rise, add the tuna to the pan. Lightly sauté the tuna with the onions. Be careful not to overcook, as the tuna can become dry. Sauté for just about 30 seconds to 1 minute until the tuna and onions are well combined. This step further enhances the tuna’s natural savory taste.
Step 5
Now, prepare the water for boiling the ramen. Use the amount of water recommended for 2 servings of ramen on the package. However, since the tuna and scallion oil already contribute to the soup’s seasoning, it’s advisable to add an extra 50-100ml of water compared to your usual amount. This will prevent the soup from being too salty and ensure a perfectly balanced flavor.
Step 6
Once the water is at a rolling boil, add both ramen soup packets and stir well to dissolve. Then, add the ramen noodles. Gently loosen the noodles with chopsticks as soon as you add them to prevent them from clumping together.
Step 7
Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Stir the noodles occasionally to ensure they cook evenly and remain tender yet chewy. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent the broth from reducing too much.
Step 8
Your delicious Green Onion and Tuna Ramen is ready! Serve immediately in a bowl while piping hot. Feel free to add other ingredients you have on hand, such as an egg, kimchi, or rice cakes, for an even more customized and enjoyable ramen experience.
