Spam Kimchi Fried Rice
Delicious Spam Kimchi Fried Rice: A Simple and Satisfying One-Bowl Meal!

It’s a bright, sunny morning. While the outside temperature has dropped significantly, the sunlight streaming through the window feels wonderfully warm. Today, for a simple yet always delicious one-bowl meal, Gastronomist’s home cooking presents Spam Kimchi Fried Rice. We’ve added Spam to classic kimchi fried rice for an extra burst of flavor.
Main Ingredients- 2 bowls of cooked rice
- 1.5 cups well-fermented kimchi
- 200g Spam (or Luncheon Meat)
- 1/3 onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your ingredients. Dice the Spam into approximately 1cm cubes. Lightly squeeze out excess liquid from the kimchi and chop it finely. Dice the onion to a similar size as the Spam.

Step 2
Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once the butter melts, add the chopped kimchi and 0.5 teaspoon of sugar. Stir-fry until the kimchi softens and becomes fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Adding a touch of sugar helps balance the kimchi’s acidity and enhances its savory flavor.

Step 3
After the kimchi is well-fried, add the diced onion and continue to stir-fry until the onion becomes translucent. The onion will caramelize and add sweetness to the dish.

Step 4
Once the onion is translucent, add the diced Spam and stir-fry everything together until well combined. The Spam will render some of its fat, adding richness and flavor.

Step 5
Now, add 2 bowls of cooked rice to the pan. Using a spatula, gently stir and fry the rice, breaking up any clumps so that each grain is coated with the flavorful mixture. If the fried rice needs more seasoning, you can add a bit more kimchi juice, or adjust with salt and pepper to your taste. Finally, drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted and black sesame seeds. Give it a gentle toss, and your delicious Spam Kimchi Fried Rice is ready! For an extra touch, you can garnish with shredded seaweed.
