  • 60g Spam (approx. 1/4 to 1/3 can)
  • 1 bowl of freshly cooked rice
  • 1/2 stalk Green Onion
  • 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Egg (for topping)
  • Pinch of Salt (for egg)
  • A little Cooking Oil (for frying egg)

Cooking Instructions

Begin by preparing all your ingredients according to the recipe. Having everything prepped and ready makes the cooking process much smoother and ensures a well-executed dish.

Finely chop the green onion. Cut the Spam into small cubes, about bite-sized. If your kimchi is in large pieces, give it a rough chop.

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onions and sauté until they become fragrant and slightly golden. Then, add the cubed Spam and stir-fry briefly with the green onions until the Spam is lightly browned. This step enhances the savory flavor.

Reduce the heat to low. Push the sautéed green onions and Spam to one side of the pan. Pour the soy sauce into the empty space. Let the soy sauce bubble and caramelize slightly for a few seconds before mixing it with the Spam and green onions. This creates a deeper, richer flavor base.

Add the chopped kimchi and gochugaru to the pan. Stir-fry everything together until the kimchi is softened and well combined with the other ingredients. Next, add the bowl of freshly cooked rice.
