Main Ingredients
  • 1 can (340g) Spam
  • 4 Tbsp cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the Spam. Cut one 340g can of Spam into bite-sized cubes, about 2cm thick. This size is perfect for easy eating.

Step 2

Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the cubed Spam and pan-fry it slowly until golden brown and slightly crispy on all sides. Frying it thoroughly until golden is key to achieving a great texture and ensuring it holds up well in the sauce.

Step 3

Once the Spam is nicely browned and appealing, transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Let it cool slightly. This brief cooling period helps maintain its crispiness before coating it in the sauce.

Step 4

Now, let’s make the delicious sauce! In a small frying pan or pot, combine 4 Tbsp water, 2 Tbsp sugar, and 6 Tbsp corn syrup. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved and the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 5

When the sauce begins to bubble, carefully add the fried Spam to the pan. Gently toss or stir the Spam using a spatula for about 1-2 minutes, ensuring each piece is evenly coated with the glaze. Be careful not to overcook, as this can make the Spam too hard. Your delicious Spam Candies are ready!
