Main Ingredients
- 10 sheets of square fish cakes
- 1/3 stalk of green onion
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 yellow bell pepper
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 5 cloves of garlic
Seasoning Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp roasted sesame seeds
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp roasted sesame seeds
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thinly slice the garlic into approximately 0.3cm thick pieces. Slicing them thinly allows their flavor to infuse beautifully into the oil, adding a wonderful depth of taste.
Step 2
Finely chop the green onion into pieces about 0.3cm apart. You can also slice it diagonally or thinly. The fresh aroma of green onions will cut through any richness in the dish.
Step 3
Julienne the onion, yellow bell pepper, and red bell pepper into strips about 0.3cm thick. The crisp texture of the vegetables and their vibrant colors will make the stir-fried fish cakes look even more appealing.
Step 4
Cut the square fish cakes into bite-sized pieces, about 2cm apart. Cutting them too thin might cause them to break apart during cooking, so maintaining a moderate thickness is recommended.
Step 5
Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add 3 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add the sliced garlic and chopped green onions, then stir-fry gently to release their aromas. Be careful not to burn the garlic; cook until fragrant.
Step 6
Once you can smell the wonderful aroma from the garlic and green onions, add the julienned onion and bell peppers. Stir-fry until the vegetables become slightly translucent.
Step 7
As the onion and bell peppers start to turn transparent, add the cut fish cakes and stir-fry together. Cook until the fish cakes are tender. Avoid overcooking, as this can make the fish cakes tough.
Step 8
When the fish cakes are cooked, add 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Stir well to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed as you continue to stir-fry.
Step 9
Once all the ingredients and seasonings are harmoniously combined and beautifully stir-fried, finish by sprinkling 1 tablespoon of roasted sesame seeds on top. The nutty flavor of the sesame seeds will complete your delicious stir-fried fish cakes!
