Main Ingredients
  • 2 slices of bread (use thick slices for a richer texture)
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 Tbsp milk (approx. 75ml)
  • 1 tsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 Tbsp butter (approx. 15g)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, to make delicious French toast, cut the bread into bite-sized pieces. You can cut them in half into squares for easy eating by children, or cut them diagonally into triangles for a more special presentation. Feel free to shape them as you like.

Step 2

Crack the 2 eggs into a bowl. Use a whisk or chopsticks to beat the eggs until the yolks and whites are completely combined and the mixture is smooth. It’s important to whisk them until there are no lumps.

Step 3

To the smoothly whisked eggs, add 5 tablespoons of milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until everything is evenly combined. A lovely sweet aroma signals that your custard mixture is ready! For kids’ snacks, you can slightly increase the amount of sugar.

Step 4

Now, dip the cut bread slices into the prepared custard mixture. The key is to soak them thoroughly, front and back, allowing the custard to fully penetrate the bread! This ensures your French toast will be wonderfully moist and soft. Let them soak for about 1-2 minutes.

Step 5

Heat a frying pan over low heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Once the butter is melted, place the custard-coated bread slices into the pan and cook slowly over low heat. Once the first side is golden brown, flip it over and cook the other side similarly. Be sure to manage the heat carefully to prevent burning. As it sizzles and a gentle buttery aroma fills the air, you’ll feel happy with the delicious smell.

Step 6

Arrange the beautifully cooked French toast on a plate. Adding fresh seasonal fruits as a side will create an even more abundant and elegant meal. Dusting with powdered sugar or drizzling a little maple syrup will make your children especially delighted!
