- 1 pinch sugar (very little)
- 1 pinch black pepper (very little)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 handful chopped green onion
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Today, I’ll share a golden recipe for stir-fried fern that’s perfect as a bibimbap ingredient or a wonderful side dish. Its tender texture is simply superb!
Step 2
First, prepare the fern. If you’re using fresh fern, wash it thoroughly several times to remove any debris, then drain it completely. After that, cut it into bite-sized pieces (about 4-5 cm long). If you’re using pre-boiled fern, you can use it immediately.
Step 3
Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the prepared fern and 1/3 cup of water. Sprinkle in some black pepper and toasted sesame seeds. Stir-fry gently until the fern becomes tender. This step helps reduce any bitterness and improves the texture.
Step 4
Once the fern is somewhat tender, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, a pinch of sugar (adjust to your preference), a pinch of black pepper, and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Mix well to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Step 5
Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma.
Step 6
Generously sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds for garnish and added flavor.
Step 7
Continue to stir-fry for about 3-4 more minutes after adding all the ingredients. In the last step, add the chopped green onions and give it a quick toss to finish. Don’t overcook after adding the green onions to maintain their crispness.
Step 8
And there you have it – delicious stir-fried fern! It’s wonderful served as a simple side dish or mixed into bibimbap for a delightful meal. Be sure to give this recipe a try!
