Basic Ingredients
  • 2 sticks of crab meat (imitation crab sticks work well)
  • 5 fresh eggs
  • 0.5 tsp salt (adjust to your taste)
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil (for frying)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, crack 5 eggs into a clean bowl. Remove the chalazae (the white stringy bits) and add about 0.5 tsp of salt. Whisk everything together until well combined. Salting the eggs beforehand will make them more tender.

Step 2

Prepare 2 sticks of crab meat. You can use them whole or shred them into smaller pieces for a different texture. Customize it to your preference.

Step 3

Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat, then add 1 Tbsp of cooking oil. Swirl the pan to coat the entire surface evenly. It’s important to control the heat; if the pan is too hot, the eggs will burn easily.

Step 4

Pour only a thin layer of the beaten egg mixture into the heated pan. Don’t pour it all at once. Tilt the pan to spread the egg thinly. This prevents the egg from burning and ensures even cooking.

Step 5

Once the surface of the egg layer starts to set, carefully place the 2 sticks of crab meat along one edge of the cooked egg. Begin to roll the egg over the crab sticks, like making a sushi roll.

Step 6

After rolling the first section, pour more beaten egg mixture thinly into the empty space in the pan, and then lift the rolled portion to continue rolling it over the new egg layer. Repeat this process to create a thick, layered omelette. While rolling, try to shape it into a neat cylinder. Using a square-shaped pan specifically designed for rolled omelettes can make shaping much easier, especially for beginners.

Step 7

Once the rolled omelette is fully cooked, let it cool slightly for a few minutes. Then, slice it into bite-sized pieces, about 1.5 to 2 cm thick. This will give you a delicious crab stick rolled omelette. Slicing while too hot might cause it to crumble, so letting it cool down a bit is recommended.
