For the Sandwich

  • 2 slices of bread (toast slices recommended)
  • 1/4 medium onion
  • 1 can (approx. 100-150g) tuna, drained
  • 3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of black pepper (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly drain the oil from the canned tuna using a sieve. Removing the oil is key to ensuring your sandwich isn’t greasy and maintains a clean, savory flavor. Place the drained tuna in a mixing bowl.

Step 1

Step 2

Finely dice the onion. If you prefer a milder onion flavor, soak the diced onion in cold water for about 5 minutes, then drain it thoroughly before adding it to the tuna. This step enhances the onion’s crispness and sweetness. Add the prepared onion to the bowl with the tuna.

Step 2

Step 3

Add 3-4 tablespoons of mayonnaise to the tuna and onion mixture. A pinch of black pepper can be added for extra aroma, if desired. Using a spatula or spoon, gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to mash the tuna too much; a slightly chunky texture is nice.

Step 3

Step 4

Lay out the two slices of bread on a cutting board. Generously spread the prepared tuna mayo mixture evenly over one slice of bread, ensuring it reaches close to the edges without overflowing. Filling it to the crust guarantees deliciousness in every bite.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the second slice of bread on top to complete the sandwich. If desired, cut the sandwich into your preferred shapes, such as diagonally or into halves, using a serrated knife or a regular knife. Now, enjoy your wonderfully simple and tasty tuna mayo sandwich!
