Add some seasoned soybean sprouts and a fried egg, along with a flavorful gochujang sauce, and you’ll have a complete and satisfying meal. It might seem simple, but with a well-made radish side dish, you can enjoy a bountiful bibimbap. Let me walk you through how to make this incredibly crisp and delicious stir-fried radish dish!
Main Ingredients- 500g radish (about 1/3 of a medium radish)
- 2/3 to 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 2/3 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 green onion (chopped)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel the radish and then thinly julienne it. It’s important to slice it thinly, as thicker pieces will take longer to cook. Chop the green onion and set aside.
Step 2
Heat about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the julienned radish and stir-fry. Keeping the heat moderate prevents the radish from burning and ensures it cooks nicely. Once the radish begins to look slightly translucent, add the salt to season. Adjust the amount of salt based on the radish’s natural sweetness and your personal preference.
Step 3
When the radish is partially cooked, add the minced garlic and stir-fry briefly. Be careful not to overcook the garlic, as it can develop a bitter taste. Stir-fry just until fragrant.
Step 4
Cover the pan and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes over medium-low heat. This step helps the radish become tender on the inside while retaining its crisp texture. The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the thickness of your radish slices, so check it occasionally.
Step 5
Finally, add the sesame seeds and chopped green onion, and mix lightly. Your delicious stir-fried radish greens are ready! The nutty flavor of the sesame seeds and the fresh aroma of the green onion add a wonderful depth of flavor. It tastes great served warm, or cooled and added to bibimbap!
