Easy and Delicious Soy-Braised Tofu Recipe
Perfect for children’s meals!
Main Ingredients
- 1/2 block firm tofu (approx. 200g)
Braising Sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce (15ml)
- 1 tsp oyster sauce (5ml)
- 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide or corn syrup (15ml)
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce (15ml)
- 1 tsp oyster sauce (5ml)
- 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide or corn syrup (15ml)
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, drain the tofu. You can gently rinse it under running water and then pat it dry thoroughly with paper towels. This helps to prevent sticking and makes for a cleaner braise. Next, cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces, about 2cm thick squares, suitable for children.
Step 2
Heat a lightly oiled non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Place the cut tofu pieces in the pan. Pan-fry the tofu until both sides are golden brown and slightly crisp. Gently flip the pieces to ensure even browning. This step helps the tofu hold its shape and absorb the sauce better.
Step 3
Once the tofu is golden brown, push the pieces to one side of the pan. Pour the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and oligosaccharide into the empty space. Let the sauce simmer gently for a moment.
Step 4
Combine the tofu with the simmering sauce, mixing well. Continue to cook over medium-low heat, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the tofu. Braise until the sauce is slightly reduced and the tofu is glossy. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds before serving. Enjoy this flavorful and healthy dish!
