Ingredients
  • 1 large potato (or 2 small potatoes)
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 mushroom
  • 65g ham
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 Tbsp fine salt
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp butter
  • 3 slices of processed cheese

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, peel the large potato (or two small ones). To prevent browning while you prepare the other ingredients, place the peeled potato in a bowl of cold water.

Step 2

Next, slice the potato as thinly and finely as possible. Thin slices will create a texture similar to pizza dough, both crispy and tender.

Step 3

Prepare all the toppings for your pizza. We have onion, mushroom, eggs, ham, and slices of cheese – a colorful array that will make your pizza truly special.

Step 4

Coarsely chop the onion. This will bring out its natural sweetness when sautéed. Avoid chopping it too finely, as it can burn easily.

Step 5

We’re adding sliced mushroom for an extra layer of flavor. Feel free to adjust the amount to your liking. You can also add other types of mushrooms if you enjoy them!

Step 6

We’ve used ham in this recipe, but feel free to substitute it with bacon or ground beef for a different taste. This recipe is flexible, so use what you have on hand!

Step 7

Whisk together 3 to 4 eggs in a bowl with about 1/2 tablespoon of fine salt. Make sure to mix well until smooth and no lumps remain.

Step 8

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced potatoes and cook until they are lightly golden brown. Since the pizza will be baked in the oven, you don’t need to cook them all the way through at this stage.

Step 9

Melt about 1/2 tablespoon of butter in an oven-safe dish. Carefully arrange the lightly browned potato slices to cover the bottom of the dish, ensuring there are no large gaps. This potato layer will act as your pizza crust.

Step 10

In the same pan, add a little more cooking oil and a pinch of fine salt. Sauté the chopped onions and sliced mushrooms until the onions are translucent and tender. This step really enhances their flavor.

Step 11

Spread the sautéed onions and mushrooms evenly over the potato base in the oven dish.

Step 12

Arrange the slices of processed cheese on top of the vegetables. You can also use shredded pizza cheese if you prefer. Pour the whisked egg mixture over the cheese, filling any gaps and binding the ingredients together.

Step 13

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 10 minutes, or until the egg is set and the cheese is melted and bubbly. This potato pizza is fantastic as a beer snack or a healthy, delicious treat for kids!
