Simple Pan-Fried Zucchini (Aehobak Bokkeum): The Perfect Side Dish
Effortlessly Delicious Pan-Fried Zucchini: A Clean and Flavorful Side Dish for Your Meals
This is the ultimate side dish to pair with a warm bowl of freshly cooked rice. Introducing Aehobak Bokkeum, a simple yet incredibly satisfying recipe that you’ll want to make every day. We’ll highlight the natural sweetness and mild flavor of the zucchini with this easy-to-follow method.
Main Ingredients- 1 medium zucchini
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the zucchini thoroughly. Trim off the ends and slice it into half-moon shapes, about 0.5 cm thick. Slicing them too thinly might cause them to break apart during cooking, so aim for a moderate thickness.
Step 2
Place the sliced zucchini in a bowl and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of salt. Gently toss to coat and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Salting the zucchini draws out excess moisture, which helps maintain a crispier texture. After salting, firmly squeeze out as much liquid as possible with your hands. This step is crucial to prevent the zucchini from becoming mushy when stir-fried.
Step 3
Now, heat a pan over medium heat. Once the pan is warm, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Add the squeezed zucchini slices and stir-fry. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the zucchini turns slightly translucent and gets a lightly golden hue. Be careful not to overcook, as the zucchini can become soft.
Step 4
Your delicious Pan-Fried Zucchini is ready! For this recipe, we’ve intentionally omitted minced garlic or other seasonings to emphasize the natural clean and sweet flavor of the zucchini itself. If you prefer, you can add a pinch more salt to taste or a dash of black pepper. This dish is fantastic served over a bowl of warm rice!
