Ingredients

  • 4 fresh eggs
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 slice of cheese

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 4 fresh, clean eggs. Since eggs are the star of this recipe, using fresh ones is best.

Step 1

Step 2

Crack 2 of the prepared eggs into separate bowls. Using chopsticks or a whisk, gently beat them until the yolk and white are well combined. Don’t worry about whisking too vigorously.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, prepare the frying pan, which is key to this dish. Add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil to the pan and maintain a low heat. Cooking the eggs slowly over low heat prevents burning and ensures they cook up tender. Spread the beaten egg thinly to cover the bottom of the pan.

Step 3

Step 4

When the egg mixture poured into the pan starts to set on one side, it’s time to add the bread. Carefully place the bread slices over the cooked egg. Let it sit for a moment so the bread can absorb the egg mixture.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the bread has absorbed the egg and is slightly cooked, it’s time to flip. Carefully flip the bread along with the pan. This allows the other side of the bread to also become golden brown.

Step 5

Step 6

After flipping, let the other side of the bread and the egg cook through. When the egg is cooked enough to be easily separated from the pan, fold the egg in half to match the shape of the bread and place it on top of the bread. It will look like the egg is encasing the bread.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the egg is folded over to fit the bread shape, it’s time to add flavor. Place 1 slice of cheese on top of the folded egg. The melting cheese will add a richer taste. Sprinkle 1/2 tablespoon of sugar over it to create a delightful sweet and savory balance.

Step 7

Step 8

Finally, with the cheese and sugar on top, fold the bread in half down the center. Cook over low heat, flipping as needed, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese inside is completely melted. Your delicious egg toast is now complete!
