Simple Homemade Condensed Milk
How to Make Delicious Homemade Condensed Milk with Just 2 Ingredients
Today, I made homemade condensed milk after a long time, and it’s a dish you can easily try if you have plenty of time and leftover milk that’s nearing its expiration date. It’s incredibly simple, requiring only milk and sugar, and the resulting sweet condensed milk is perfect for a wide variety of desserts like ice cream, coffee, and baked goods. Follow this recipe, and you’ll be able to easily create café-worthy condensed milk right in your own kitchen!
Key Ingredients
- 900ml Milk
- 200g Sugar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully pour all 900ml of milk into a clean saucepan. It’s best to choose a pot that’s large enough to prevent the milk from boiling over.
Step 2
Next, add all 200g of sugar to the milk in the pot. You can slightly adjust the amount of sugar according to your preference.
Step 3
Now, place the pot on the stove over medium-low heat. Stir continuously with a spatula or whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved in the milk. It’s crucial that no sugar granules are visible.
Step 4
Once the sugar has fully dissolved, increase the heat to medium and watch for the milk to begin simmering. As soon as it starts to gently bubble, immediately reduce the heat to medium-low. This step is important to prevent the milk from scorching or sticking to the bottom of the pot. Never maintain high heat!
Step 5
This next part is the key to achieving the right consistency for your condensed milk. Maintain medium-low heat and let it simmer gently for about 40 to 50 minutes. As it cooks, the milk will gradually change color from a pale ivory to a deeper cream color. You’ll notice the surface developing a foamy layer, and the simmering sound will become thicker and more viscous. When this happens, it’s time to turn off the heat and check the consistency. Be careful not to overcook it, as it can become too thick or hard.
Step 6
Carefully pour the warm, homemade condensed milk into a clean, sterilized glass jar. Using a glass jar allows you to easily see the color and consistency of the condensed milk. Once the condensed milk has cooled to a comfortable temperature, securely close the lid and store it in the refrigerator. Properly refrigerated, it should stay fresh for about 2 weeks.
Step 7
Your sweet and smooth homemade condensed milk is ready! Enjoy it with warm bread or pancakes, or add a touch of sweetness to your coffee. Make your dessert time even more special with your homemade condensed milk!
