  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 60 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen cocktail shrimp (approx. 200-300g)
  • 5-6 cloves garlic
  • 3cm white part of a leek
  • 1-2 Cheongyang peppers (if you prefer it spicy)
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil or olive oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients. Thaw the store-bought cocktail shrimp and pat them dry. Peel the whole garlic cloves and slice them thinly. Finely chop the leek. If you like a spicy kick, deseed the Cheongyang peppers and chop them finely. (Tip: If you love garlic, increase the amount of sliced garlic. You can also season with salt instead of oyster sauce.)

Step 1

Step 2

Rinse the thawed cocktail shrimp under cold water, remove the tails, and thoroughly pat them dry with paper towels. Ensuring the shrimp are dry helps prevent oil splattering and brings out their natural flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

We’re emphasizing the sliced garlic again for those who truly love it. Preparing it this way allows you to savor the garlic’s aroma even more intensely, and it’s fun to pick out the cooked garlic pieces to eat.

Step 3

Step 4

Finely chop the 3cm length of leek. The fragrant flavor of the leek will add umami to the dish.

Step 4

Step 5

If you enjoy a touch of heat, finely chop 1-2 Cheongyang peppers. Removing the seeds will provide a pleasant spicy kick without being overwhelmingly hot.

Step 5

Step 6

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil or olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced garlic and begin to sauté. Once the garlic starts to turn translucent, add the chopped leek and cook until the fragrant aromas of garlic and leek are well released. Keep the heat low.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the fragrant garlic and leek aromas are noticeable, add the dried cocktail shrimp and sauté together. The delicious, savory smell that arises as the shrimp cook will surely stimulate your appetite.

Step 7

Step 8

It’s time to season. Instead of salt, add 1/3 tablespoon of oyster sauce and mix well with all the ingredients. The oyster sauce adds a wonderful depth of flavor, creating a perfect shrimp dish that’s ideal as a beer snack. (Tip: You can use regular soy sauce instead of oyster sauce.)

Step 8

Step 9

Finally, stir in 2 tablespoons of oligosaccharide to add a subtle sweetness and a glossy finish, coating all the ingredients evenly. The oligosaccharide slightly thickens the sauce, ensuring it coats the ingredients beautifully for an even more delicious result. Turn off the heat once everything is well combined.

Step 9

Step 10

Your exquisite Garlic Butter Shrimp Gambas is ready! It tastes even better when served warm. Enjoy it with baguette slices or crackers, dipping them into the rich sauce for a perfect pairing. We hope you have a wonderful time with your loved ones!
