How to Make a Fragrant Basil Egg Toast
I tried making a basil toast. This recipe transforms a simple slice of bread into a delightful brunch or breakfast treat, perfect for busy mornings. It’s quick, easy, and incredibly flavorful!
Ingredients
- 1 slice of bread
- 1 Tbsp basil pesto
- Mayonnaise, as needed
- 1 fresh egg
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- Mozzarella cheese, to taste
- Dried parsley, for garnish
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Take one slice of bread. Gently press down the center of the bread with your finger or the back of a spoon to create a well for the egg. Be careful not to tear the bread. Next, pipe a border of mayonnaise around the indented area. This will help contain the egg and create a neat presentation.
Step 2
Carefully crack the fresh egg into the well you created in the bread. Try to place it gently without breaking the yolk. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and black pepper over the egg to season it. You can also use herbed salt for extra flavor.
Step 3
Place the prepared toast into your air fryer. Cook at 150℃ (300℉) for 10 minutes. Keep an eye on the toast during cooking to ensure the bread is toasting nicely and the egg is cooking through. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model, so adjust as needed. In the last minute of cooking, generously sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top and finish with a dusting of dried parsley for a beautiful, appetizing look. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
