Simple and Delicious Avocado Crostini Recipe
Enjoy a Brunch with Delightful Avocado Crostini
Crostini, meaning ‘small toast’ in Italian, is a delightful finger food made by topping toasted baguette slices with various ingredients. Its beautiful presentation and delicious taste make it perfect for a simple brunch or snack, and it’s so easy to make that anyone can create it with confidence. I decided to make avocado crostini since I had leftover baguette and ripe avocados at home.
Ingredients- 6 slices baguette
- 1 Tbsp butter (melted)
- 1 ripe avocado
- 2 fresh tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp lemon preserve syrup
- 2 slices cheese
- A little mozzarella cheese
- A little chopped nuts
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, slice the baguette into approximately 1.5cm thick pieces for easy eating.
Step 2
Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, peel it, and then slice it into approximately 5mm thick pieces.
Step 3
Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over the avocado slices to enhance their flavor. Be careful not to over-season.
Step 4
Similarly, slice the fresh tomatoes into approximately 5mm thick pieces and set them aside.
Step 5
Now, let’s make a creamy avocado and tomato topping. Finely dice half of the avocado and half of the tomato, then mix them with 1 tablespoon of lemon preserve syrup. This will add a lovely fresh and zesty flavor.
Step 6
Brush both sides of the prepared baguette slices evenly with melted butter. The butter will give the bread a wonderful crispiness.
Step 7
Toast the baguette slices in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for about 5 minutes until golden brown. Alternatively, you can toast them in a pan over low heat or in an air fryer. Keep an eye on them to prevent them from becoming too hard.
Step 8
Place a slice of cheese neatly on top of each toasted baguette. The cheese will melt and help hold the toppings in place.
Step 9
To make a canapé-style crostini, arrange the lemon preserve-mixed avocado and tomato topping attractively over the cheese. This version offers a fresh and vibrant taste.
Step 10
For a different style of avocado crostini, generously top the remaining baguette slices with mozzarella cheese. Bake in the oven or air fryer until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
Step 11
Once the cheese is melted, layer the tomato slices and avocado slices on top of the baguette. Finish by sprinkling a little chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.
Step 12
You’ve now created two distinct versions of avocado crostini! Whether you choose one or make both, enjoy them as a delightful snack or a satisfying brunch with a touch of homemade elegance.
