I made stir-fried anchovies and decided to whip up some rice balls with them in no time.

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of cooked rice (approx. 210g)
  • 1 Tbsp stir-fried anchovies (adjust to taste)

Seasoning & Garnish

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp roasted seaweed flakes (seasoned or plain)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare all the ingredients needed to make the rice balls. Get your warm cooked rice, delicious stir-fried anchovies, fragrant sesame oil, and flavorful seaweed flakes ready. Using pre-made stir-fried anchovies will make this process even quicker.

Place one bowl of warm cooked rice into a large bowl or container. It’s best to mix in the seasonings while the rice is still warm so that everything melds together nicely. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and 2 tablespoons of seaweed flakes evenly over the rice.

Now, add 1 tablespoon of the stir-fried anchovies, which is the key to the delicious flavor. You can adjust the amount of stir-fried anchovies based on their size or the intensity of their flavor. Since the anchovies are already seasoned, feel free to add a little more if you prefer a saltier taste.

Lightly coat your hands with sesame oil or wear disposable gloves. Gently mix the rice, seaweed flakes, sesame oil, and stir-fried anchovies in the bowl until well combined. Be careful not to mash the rice grains as you mix. Ensure the anchovies and seaweed flakes are evenly distributed throughout the rice. Once mixed, shape the rice into bite-sized balls and arrange them nicely on a plate. Your delicious anchovy rice balls are now ready to be enjoyed!
