Silken Tofu and Dressing Ingredients

  • 1 pack Silken Tofu (approx. 202g)
  • 1.3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 0.5 Tbsp Plum Extract (Maesilcheong)
  • 0.5 Tbsp Perilla Oil (Deulgireum)
  • 5g Green Onions (Scallions), finely chopped
  • 0.3 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 0.4 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Start by preparing one pack of silken tofu, which is approximately 202g. Typically, dividing a standard pack in half yields about 200g.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, drain the silken tofu. You can either cut the tofu pack in half and drain it directly, or carefully remove the plastic wrapper. Once unwrapped, slice the tofu into approximately 1cm thick pieces and place them on a sieve to drain excess water. This step ensures the dressing adheres well and improves the texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Prepare the ingredients for the dressing. Measure out 0.3 Tbsp of minced garlic. Finely chop about 5g of green onions (scallions); these will add a fresh aroma to the dish.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, let’s make the soy sauce dressing. In a small bowl, add 1.3 Tbsp of soy sauce. This forms the savory base of our dressing.

Step 4

Step 5

Next, add 0.5 Tbsp of plum extract (Maesilcheong). This adds a pleasant sweetness and depth, serving as a healthier alternative to sugar.

Step 5

Step 6

Incorporate 0.5 Tbsp of perilla oil (Deulgireum) for a nutty and fragrant finish. Perilla oil has a low smoke point, so it’s best added at the end or mixed into dressings rather than cooked at high heat.

Step 6

Step 7

Add the finely chopped green onions and 0.3 Tbsp of minced garlic to the dressing bowl.

Step 7

Step 8

Whisk the dressing ingredients together thoroughly with a spoon or a small whisk until well combined. Evenly mixed dressing ensures consistent flavor distribution over the tofu.

Step 8

Step 9

Gently place the drained silken tofu into your serving bowl. Arrange it nicely for presentation.

Step 9

Step 10

Spoon the prepared soy sauce dressing over the silken tofu. You can pour it all at once, or drizzle it gradually as you eat, adjusting the flavor to your preference.

Step 10

Step 11

Once the dressing is evenly distributed, your ‘Silken Tofu with Savory Soy Sauce Dressing’ is complete! While silken tofu is delicious on its own, this simple dressing elevates it into a satisfying meal or a health-conscious dish. Enjoy this quick, healthy, and delightful recipe today!
