Salad Ingredients

  • 1/2 block Firm Tofu (approx. 150-200g)
  • Fresh Salad Greens (your choice)

Sesame Dressing

  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • 2 Tbsp Avocado Oil (or Olive Oil)
  • 1 Tbsp Ground Sesame Seeds
  • 0.5 Tbsp Minced Garlic (approx. 1/2 tsp)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the tofu. You can cut it to your preferred size, but I find bite-sized cubes convenient. Dice the tofu into approximately 2cm cubes.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash your fresh salad greens thoroughly. After washing, make sure to drain them completely using a colander or paper towels. This step is crucial to prevent the dressing from becoming watery and to ensure it adheres well to the greens.

Step 2

Step 3

Let’s prepare the sesame seeds for our delicious dressing. For a richer nutty flavor, it’s best to grind the sesame seeds finely using a mortar and pestle or a food processor. This will significantly enhance the aroma and taste of the dressing.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, let’s make the delectable sesame dressing. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of lemon juice, 1 Tbsp of honey, and 2 Tbsp of avocado oil. (If you don’t have avocado oil, a light-flavored olive oil works wonderfully too.) Lastly, add 1 Tbsp of the ground sesame seeds and 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic. Whisk everything together until well combined. Taste the dressing and add a little more soy sauce if you prefer a saltier flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Take the drained tofu and place it on paper towels. Gently press down with more paper towels to absorb any excess moisture. Removing the water from the tofu is important for achieving a nice, crispy texture when cooked.

Step 5

Step 6

Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium-low heat. Add the cubed tofu and pan-fry it until golden brown and slightly crispy on all sides. The goal is to get a nice sear on the outside while keeping the inside tender. If you prefer not to pan-fry, you can also boil the tofu cubes in water for a softer, more delicate texture.
