Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Perilla Oil
  • 4 Fresh Eggs
  • 10 cm Green Onion (scallion)
  • A little Cooking Oil (for greasing the pan)
  • A pinch of Black Pepper (optional)

Cooking Instructions

First, prepare the green onion. Finely chop about 10 cm of green onion into thin slices. This will add a wonderful aroma and visual appeal when sprinkled over the fried eggs.

Next, get your eggs ready. Using 4 fresh eggs is key to a great fried egg! Gently crack each egg to keep the yolks intact.

Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add just a small amount of cooking oil and swirl it around to lightly coat the pan. This prevents the eggs from sticking. Once the pan is lightly warm, carefully crack the eggs into the pan, one by one. Try not to break the yolks as you cook them to your desired level of doneness.

When the egg whites are about 70-80% cooked and have turned mostly opaque, generously drizzle the perilla oil around the edges of the pan. Reduce the heat slightly to allow the perilla oil’s nutty aroma to infuse into the eggs without burning. Sprinkle the chopped green onions over the eggs, and finish with a pinch of black pepper. Your flavorful and aromatic perilla oil fried eggs are now ready!
