- Well-fermented napa cabbage kimchi 250-300g
- Green onion 1/2 stalk
Seasoning- Olive oil 2-3 Tbsp
- Oyster sauce 1 Tbsp
- Sugar 2 Tbsp
- Sesame oil 1 tsp
- Toasted sesame seeds 1 Tbsp
- Olive oil 2-3 Tbsp
- Oyster sauce 1 Tbsp
- Sugar 2 Tbsp
- Sesame oil 1 tsp
- Toasted sesame seeds 1 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Don’t throw away those leftover kimchi scraps in your fridge! They are perfect for this recipe. If the kimchi pieces are too large, roughly chop them into bite-sized pieces with scissors or a knife.
Step 2
Slice the Vienna sausages in half lengthwise, then diagonally, to make them look appealing and be easier to eat. This helps the seasoning penetrate better, making them more flavorful.
Step 3
Cut the green onion half lengthwise, then thinly slice it into small pieces (mince). The fragrant aroma of the green onion will enhance the overall taste of the dish.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium heat, add the chopped kimchi and olive oil, and stir-fry. Once the kimchi starts to soften slightly, add the oyster sauce and sugar to give it a glossy sheen and enhance its umami.
Step 5
Stir-fry the kimchi for about 3 minutes to allow the seasoning to be absorbed. Then, add the sliced Vienna sausages and minced green onions to the pan and continue to stir-fry.
Step 6
Continue to stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes, allowing all the ingredients to meld together. Cook until the Vienna sausages are lightly browned and the kimchi and vegetables are tender.
Step 7
Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds for a fragrant finish. The nutty aroma of sesame oil and the texture of sesame seeds add a delightful depth of flavor. My daughter always asks for this stir-fried kimchi when she eats instant cup noodles! It’s delicious on its own, but it pairs exceptionally well with cup noodles or as a rice side dish.
