Ingredients- Zucchini (50g)
- Minced Scallion (1/2 Tbsp)
- Vegetable Broth (80g)
- Garlic Powder (2-3 pinches)
- Ground Perilla Seeds (1 tsp)
- Perilla Oil (1/3 tsp)
- Brown Rice Oil or Cooking Oil (1 tsp)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the zucchini thoroughly under running water. Cut it into small, bite-sized pieces suitable for your baby. (e.g., half-moon shapes, 1-2 cm in length).
Step 2
Finely mince the scallions, using both the white and green parts. Ensure they are chopped very finely for your baby’s consumption.
Step 3
Lightly grease a heated pan with brown rice oil or cooking oil. Add the cut zucchini and stir-fry over medium-low heat until slightly softened and translucent. Be careful not to burn it.
Step 4
Once the zucchini becomes slightly translucent, pour in the vegetable broth and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. The broth will help tenderize the zucchini.
Step 5
When the broth has reduced to about one-third of its original volume, add 2-3 pinches of garlic powder. Continue to simmer over medium-low heat. The garlic powder adds a subtle aromatic flavor.
Step 6
Continue simmering until most of the liquid has evaporated and the zucchini is tender and slightly saucy. At this point, add the minced scallions and mix them in.
Step 7
Reduce the heat to very low. Stir in the ground perilla seeds and the perilla oil, ensuring everything is well combined.
Step 8
Finally, stir-fry gently over low heat until all the liquid has completely evaporated and the ingredients are coated in a light sauce. This dish is now ready! The residual heat will finish cooking.
Step 9
This dish is a hit with babies due to the natural sweetness of zucchini and the rich, nutty flavor of perilla seeds. It’s delicious even without added salt, making it a perfect side dish for babies 8 months and older! It’s nutritious and flavorful with just vegetable broth and perilla seeds.
