Savory Stir-Fried Pork Belly (Samgyeopsal Bokkeum)
My Go-To Recipe for Delicious Stir-Fried Pork Belly (Jeyuk Bokkeum Style)
The irresistible stir-fried pork belly that you’ll crave when hunger strikes. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal!
Main Ingredients- Pork Belly (Samgyeopsal), 300g
- Green Onion (Scallion), 1/2 stalk
- Onion, 1/2 medium
- Minced Garlic, 1 Tbsp
- Korean Chili Peppers (Cheongyang), 1-2 (adjust to spice preference)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, place the pork belly in a pan over medium heat and cook until the surface is nicely browned. This step is key to effectively removing any gamey odors from the pork belly. After cooking, you can lightly pat the pork belly with paper towels to remove excess grease for a cleaner taste.
Step 2
Once the pork belly has rendered some of its fat, add the chopped green onions, Korean chili peppers, and minced garlic to the pan. Stir-fry them together until fragrant. It’s important to sauté the garlic over medium-low heat to prevent it from burning.
Step 3
As the aroma of the green onions and garlic intensifies, add the roughly chopped onion and stir-fry until it becomes translucent. Now, combine all the seasoning ingredients (gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, mirin, sesame oil, black pepper, and fish sauce). Add this mixture to the pan and stir well to coat the pork belly and vegetables evenly. Finally, season with salt to taste, adjusting with fish sauce or soy sauce if needed. Cook until everything is well combined and heated through.
